‘Love Letters’ is a semi-original theatre work, adapted from ‘Love letters’ by Shan ChengJu. A man and a woman had known each other since childhood. Through decades of correspondence, they shared many important aspects of life together: growth, youth, careers, love, marriage, and death. As children, they despised each other, yet they kept in touch. As adults, they pursued their own paths but remained tightly connected through letters. As time went by, they came to realise that within each other's hearts, they had already become an inseparable entity。

This show will be presented in Chinese and English, and subtitles will be provided during the show.

Cast

The Director and Actor Fini Liu is a young dramatist resident in Australia.

Master's degree in film management at the University of Melbourne. Study and exchange contemporary art at Columbia University. Directed and starred in many dramas in Melbourne, among which ‘Melbeans’ and the re-enactment of ‘ART-’ , ‘Juleo and Romiet‘ were well received.

From 2015, he started working in film and theatre industry in Melbourne. In 2019 and 2020, he studied theatre performances in Tasmania and participated in many acclaimed works. Among them, "Fishskin Trousers" innovated the "Zoom" theatre during covid19, and the online performance was unexpectedly successful and aroused Wide attention from the local community.

In 2021, His first Bilingual Theatre Play 'ART-' received great praise from the audience. In 2022, his work ‘last laugh‘ received the Anywhere Festival Award Overall, ‘Juleo and Romiet ‘ won the Best Work by an Emerging Artist at Melbourne Fringe 2022. In 2023, Fini Liu received ‘Best Direction Nomination' by Greenroom Australia for 'Juleo and Romiet' presented as part of Melbourne Fringe Festival.

He is continuously exploring drama in drama, restoring the stage on the stage with his great passion for Theatre Arts.

Angel Xiao graduated from the Monash College and received her acting training at 16th Street Actors’ Studio. With experience in English and Mandarin productions, she has worked with bilingual theatre companies including Do Theatre and One Tree Theatre. Angel has performed in various contemporary award-winning productions, including The Smile Off Your Face and A Game of You by Ontroerend Goed, as well as traditional theatre roles, such as Lin Shuyan in New Youth, Nell in Endgame, and Jess in A Long Way Down. She has also taken on the lead roles in many award-winning short films, including Swallow and Magpie. She is also a musician, skilled in the piano, Chinese lute, guitar, and percussion. Dedicated to her craft, Angel continues to explore new horizons in the world of acting.
